Managing Contact Lists
Create, edit, and delete lists to organize your contacts.
Managing Contact Lists
Lists are the primary way to organize contacts in Mailnaptic. A contact can belong to multiple lists, and you target lists when sending campaigns.
Creating a List
- Go to Lists in the navigation bar (under Audience).
- Click Create list.
- Enter a List name and an optional Description.
- Optionally tick Enable double opt-in (new contacts must confirm their subscription by email) or Enable bounce limit (automatically remove contacts after a number of hard bounces).
- Click Create list.
Adding Contacts to a List
There are several ways to add contacts to a list:
- During import — Select the list in the Options step when importing a CSV.
- On the list page — Open the list and click Add contact or Import contacts.
- Single contact — Open a contact, click Edit, and choose lists.
- Bulk operation — Select multiple contacts on the Contacts page, click Bulk Edit, and choose the Subscribe to a list action.
- Automation — Use the Add to list action in an automation workflow.
Editing a List
Click Edit on a list card, or open the list and click Edit, to change its name, description, double opt-in, and bounce limit settings. The list page also shows list health and the contacts in the list.
Deleting a List
To delete a list, click Delete on the list card or on the list page. This removes the list and its memberships and unlinks it from campaigns, but does not delete the contacts. Contacts that were in the list remain in your database and in any other lists they belong to.
Lists vs. Segments
Lists are static — a contact is in a list because they were explicitly added. Segments are dynamic — a contact matches a segment because they meet the filter criteria at that moment. Use lists for explicit groupings (e.g., “Newsletter subscribers”) and segments for rule-based targeting (e.g., contacts with a given tag or status).
