Adding a Single Contact

Manually create a new contact with custom fields and tags.

Adding a Single Contact

You can add individual contacts to Mailnaptic one at a time. This is useful for manually adding someone who gave you their email in person, or for testing.

How to Add a Contact

  1. Go to Contacts in the navigation bar (under Audience).
  2. Click Add contact in the top-right area.
  3. Enter the Email address. This is the only required field.
  4. Optionally fill in First name and Last name.
  5. Tick one or more Lists to add the contact to.
  6. Add any Tags (press comma or Enter after each tag).
  7. Fill in any of your organization’s Custom fields.
  8. Click Save contact.

You can also add a contact directly from a list’s page with its Add contact button.

Validation

Mailnaptic rejects email addresses with invalid syntax and disposable (temporary) email domains. Your plan also limits the total number of contacts; you will see an error if adding the contact would exceed it.

Duplicate Handling

Email addresses are unique within an organization. If you add an email that already exists, Mailnaptic updates the existing contact rather than creating a duplicate.

Contact Status and Double Opt-In

Newly created contacts start as Active. Double opt-in is a setting on each list: if a list has it enabled, the contact is added to that list as pending and receives a confirmation email. They only become a member of the list after clicking the confirmation link in that email, which expires after 48 hours.

The confirmation email comes from your own sending domain, so subscribers recognize the sender. In the list settings, choose Confirmation emails come from to pick the domain (for example hello@yourdomain.com). If you have only one verified domain it is used automatically. The email uses that domain's brand kit colours and fonts, names the list and the address being confirmed, and tells the subscriber what happens next.

Custom Fields

Any custom fields your organization has configured (see Using Custom Fields) appear on the form. Custom fields are optional and are stored as text.

Tip: To add many contacts at once, use the CSV import feature instead.
