AI Subject Line Scoring
Score your subject line from 0-100 with AI feedback
AI Subject Line Scoring
The AI Subject Line Scoring tool analyzes your subject line and gives it a score from 0 to 100, along with detailed feedback on strengths, weaknesses, and improvement suggestions. It also compares your subject line against your organization's historical performance data.
How to Score a Subject Line
- In the campaign builder, enter your subject line on the Setup step.
- Click Score Subject in the Mailnaptic AI toolbar.
- The AI analyzes your subject line and returns:
- Score (0-100) — an overall quality score. Higher is better.
- Strengths — what the subject line does well (e.g., “Creates curiosity,” “Good length for mobile”).
- Weaknesses — areas for improvement (e.g., “Lacks urgency,” “Too generic”).
- Suggestions — specific recommendations for improvement.
- Benchmark comparison — how your subject line compares to your organization's average open and click rates from the last 6 months of campaigns.
Understanding the Score
| Score Range | Rating | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 80-100 | Excellent | Strong subject line likely to perform well. |
| 60-79 | Good | Solid subject line with room for minor improvements. |
| 40-59 | Average | Needs work. Review the suggestions provided. |
| 0-39 | Weak | Significant improvements needed. Consider using the AI Subject Line Generator. |
Benchmark Comparison
The scoring tool pulls your organization's average open rates and click rates from the past 6 months. It compares your new subject line against these benchmarks and provides context like “Your recent campaigns average a 24% open rate. Subject lines with curiosity-driven phrasing have performed 15% above this average for your audience.”
Tips
- Score your subject line, apply the suggestions, and then score again to see if your changes improved the rating.
- Use this tool alongside the AI Subject Line Generator: generate options, pick the best one, then score it for validation.
- The benchmark comparison is more valuable once you have sent several campaigns, as the AI needs historical data to provide meaningful comparisons.
- A high score does not guarantee high open rates, but it indicates that the subject line follows proven best practices and fits your audience's patterns.
- Each scoring request consumes one AI credit.
