AI Credit Usage
Track and understand your AI feature usage
AI Credit Usage
Mailnaptic's AI features are powered by credits that are consumed each time you use an AI tool. This article explains how credits work, how to track your usage, and tips for using them efficiently.
How AI Credits Work
Each AI action consumes credits from your organization's monthly allocation. The credit cost varies by feature:
| AI Feature | Credit Cost |
|---|---|
| AI Email Writer (full content generation) | 1 credit |
| AI Text Rewrite | 1 credit |
| AI Subject Line Generator (batch of 5+) | 1 credit |
| AI Subject Line Scoring | 1 credit |
| AI Preheader Generator | 1 credit |
| AI Segment Builder (natural language) | 1 credit |
| AI Audience Insights | 1 credit |
Tracking Your Usage
To view your current AI credit usage:
- Navigate to Organization from the sidebar.
- Look for the AI Usage section, which shows:
- Credits used this billing period.
- Credits remaining.
- A breakdown of usage by feature.
Monthly Credit Allocation
Your monthly credit allocation depends on your plan. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month.
What Happens When Credits Run Out
When your credits are exhausted for the current billing period:
- AI features are temporarily unavailable. The AI buttons in the campaign builder and segment editor will be disabled.
- All non-AI features continue to work normally.
- Credits reset at the start of your next billing cycle.
Tips for Efficient Credit Usage
- Write a clear brief before using the AI Email Writer. A specific brief is more likely to produce usable content on the first generation, saving you from regenerating.
- Score before generating alternatives. Score your existing subject line first. If it scores well, you may not need to generate AI alternatives.
- Use rewrite sparingly. The AI Rewrite tool is best for targeted improvements. For wholesale rewrites, consider using the full AI Email Writer instead.
- Batch subject line work. The Subject Line Generator produces 5+ options per credit. Pick the best one and score it, rather than generating multiple batches.
- Plan your AI usage. If you send many campaigns per month, budget your AI credits accordingly. Focus AI usage on your highest-impact campaigns.
