Global Suppression List

Manage platform-wide suppressed addresses

Global Suppression List

The global suppression list is a platform-wide safeguard that prevents emails from being sent to specific addresses regardless of which campaign, automation, or list they belong to. This is essential for maintaining sender reputation and complying with anti-spam regulations.

What Is the Global Suppression List?

Unlike list-level unsubscribes, which only remove a contact from a particular mailing list, the global suppression list blocks all outbound email to the specified addresses across your entire organization. Addresses end up on this list through several mechanisms:

  • Hard bounces — When an email permanently fails delivery, the address is automatically suppressed to protect your sender reputation.
  • Spam complaints — Contacts who mark your emails as spam are immediately suppressed.
  • Manual additions — You can proactively add addresses that should never receive email from your organization.
  • Regulatory requests — Addresses added in response to legal or compliance requirements.

Viewing the Suppression List

Navigate to Organization Settings > Global Suppression to view all suppressed addresses. The list displays the email address, the reason for suppression, and the date it was added. Use the search bar to quickly check whether a specific address is suppressed.

Adding Addresses Manually

To manually suppress an address, click Add Suppression and enter one or more email addresses separated by commas or newlines. You can also upload a CSV file for bulk additions. Select a reason category — such as "Compliance request," "Known spam trap," or "Other" — and optionally add a note for internal reference.

Removing Addresses

To remove an address from the suppression list, locate it in the list and click Remove. Note that addresses suppressed due to hard bounces or spam complaints should generally remain suppressed. Removing them may result in deliverability issues. Mailnaptic will display a warning when you attempt to unsuppress an address that was added automatically.

Suppression List Priority

The global suppression list takes the highest priority in Mailnaptic's sending pipeline. Even if a contact is active in multiple lists and targeted by a campaign, the send will be blocked if their address appears on the suppression list. This check happens at send time, so adding an address mid-campaign will prevent any remaining emails from being delivered to that address.

Exporting the Suppression List

Click Export to download the full suppression list as a CSV file. This is useful for auditing purposes, sharing with other email platforms, or maintaining compliance records. The export includes the email address, suppression reason, source, and timestamp.
