Customizing Your Preference Center

Brand and configure your email preference center

Customizing Your Preference Center

Your preference center is the page contacts visit when they want to manage their email subscription settings. A well-designed preference center reduces outright unsubscribes by giving contacts control over what they receive and how often. Mailnaptic provides a fully customizable preference center that reflects your brand.

Accessing Preference Center Settings

Navigate to Organization → Preference Center to open the configuration panel. Here you can customize the appearance, messaging, and available options that contacts see when they manage their preferences.

Branding and Appearance

Make your preference center feel like a natural extension of your brand:

  • Logo: Upload your organization's logo to display at the top of the page.
  • Primary color: Set the accent color used for buttons, links, and active states. This should match your brand palette.
  • Heading text: Customize the main heading that appears on the page (e.g., "Manage your email preferences" or "Stay in control of what you receive").
  • Description text: Add a friendly message below the heading that explains what the page does and reassures contacts about their choices.

Subscription Topics

Topics allow contacts to opt in or out of specific categories of email rather than unsubscribing from everything. Common topics include:

  • Product updates and announcements
  • Educational content and newsletters
  • Promotional offers and discounts
  • Event invitations
  • Account and transactional notifications

To add a topic, click Add Topic, enter a name and description, and choose whether it should be opt-in by default for new contacts. Each topic maps to a tag or list in your Mailnaptic organization, so you can use them as targeting criteria in campaigns and automations.

Frequency Options

Some contacts want fewer emails rather than no emails. Enable the frequency preference option to let contacts choose how often they hear from you — for example, "Weekly digest" versus "Every message." When enabled, Mailnaptic's frequency capping system respects these preferences automatically during campaign sends.

Unsubscribe Reasons

When a contact chooses to unsubscribe from all emails, you can optionally display a set of predefined reasons. These reasons help you understand why people leave and identify patterns. Configure your unsubscribe reasons under Organization → Unsubscribe Reasons. Common examples include "Too many emails," "Content not relevant," and "I never signed up."

Preview and Test

Before going live, click Preview to see how the preference center looks to your contacts. Test on desktop and mobile to ensure it renders well across devices. Every Mailnaptic email includes a link to your preference center in the footer by default.

Custom Domain

For a seamless brand experience, you can host your preference center on a custom subdomain like preferences.yourdomain.com. Set up a CNAME record pointing to Mailnaptic, then configure the custom domain in your organization settings.
