Reference guide for common error messages

Understanding Error Messages

When something goes wrong in Mailnaptic, error messages help you identify the problem. This reference guide explains the most common errors you may encounter and how to resolve them.

Authentication Errors

"Session expired. Please log in again."

Your authentication token has expired. This typically happens after a period of inactivity. Simply log in again. If this happens frequently, check that your browser is not blocking cookies, as Mailnaptic uses secure cookies for session management.

"Invalid credentials."

The email or password you entered is incorrect. Use the "Forgot password" link to reset your password if needed. Note that passwords are case-sensitive.

"Too many login attempts. Please try again later."

Rate limiting has been triggered after multiple failed login attempts. Wait 5 minutes before trying again. This protects your account from brute-force attacks.

Campaign Errors

"Cannot send: no verified sending domain."

You need at least one verified domain before sending campaigns. Navigate to Domains and complete the verification process for your sending domain.

"Cannot send: mailing address required."

CAN-SPAM compliance requires a physical mailing address. Go to your domain settings and add your organization's mailing address before sending.

"Campaign has no recipients."

The target segment or list for your campaign contains no active, eligible contacts. This can happen if all contacts are unsubscribed, bounced, or excluded. Review your campaign targeting and segment criteria.

Contact Errors

"Duplicate email address."

A contact with this email already exists in your organization. Mailnaptic uses email as a unique identifier. To update the existing contact, use the edit function or CSV import with the update option.

"Invalid email format."

The email address provided does not match standard email formatting rules. Check for typos, missing @ symbols, or invalid domain names.

Domain Errors

"DNS verification failed: record not found."

Mailnaptic could not find the expected DNS record for your domain. This may be due to propagation delay (wait up to 48 hours) or incorrect record configuration. See the Domain Verification Failing guide for detailed troubleshooting.

"SPF record conflict detected."

Your domain already has an SPF record, and adding a second one will cause both to fail. Instead, merge Mailnaptic's SPF include into your existing record.

Automation Errors

"Automation cannot be activated: no verified domain."

Automations that send emails require a verified domain. Verify your domain first, then activate the automation.

"Trigger configuration invalid."

One or more required fields in the automation trigger are missing or contain invalid values. Open the trigger node and ensure all required fields are populated.

Import Errors

"CSV parsing failed: invalid format."

The uploaded file could not be parsed as valid CSV. Ensure the file uses comma separation, UTF-8 encoding, and includes a header row. Try opening the file in a text editor to check for formatting issues.

"Import limit exceeded."

The CSV file contains more rows than your plan allows in a single import. Split the file into smaller batches and import each separately.

API Errors

"Rate limit exceeded."

You have sent too many API requests in a short period. Mailnaptic's API enforces rate limits to ensure platform stability. Implement exponential backoff in your integration and check the Retry-After header for the recommended wait time.

"Invalid API key."

The API key used in the request is invalid or has been revoked. Generate a new key in Organization Settings > API Keys and update your integration.
