Setting Up BIMI
Display your brand logo next to emails in supported inboxes.
Setting Up BIMI
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets you display your brand’s logo next to your emails in recipients’ inboxes. It builds on DMARC enforcement, and mailbox providers decide whether and how to display the logo.
Prerequisites
- DMARC must be enforced:
p=quarantineorp=reject(notp=none). Mailnaptic disables saving BIMI settings while your policy isp=none. - Your logo must be in SVG Tiny PS format (a specific SVG profile) and served over HTTPS.
- Gmail requires a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or a Common Mark Certificate (CMC) from a certificate authority such as DigiCert or Entrust.
Setting Up BIMI in Mailnaptic
- Prepare your logo as an SVG Tiny PS file and host it at a publicly accessible HTTPS URL. The file must use
version="1.2"andbaseProfile="tiny-ps", have a squareviewBoxand a<title>element, be under 32KB, be served asimage/svg+xml, and contain no scripts, animations, or external references. - If you have a VMC or CMC, host the certificate (PEM file) at an HTTPS URL as well.
- On Domains → Sending domains, expand your domain and find the BIMI section. Enter the Logo URL and, optionally, the VMC Certificate URL, then click Save BIMI settings. Mailnaptic validates the SVG and lists any problems it finds.
- Mailnaptic then shows the expected BIMI DNS record. Create it as a TXT record at
default._bimi.example.com:
Without a certificate URL the record ends with an emptyv=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/logo.svg; a=https://example.com/cert.pema=. Without a VMC or CMC, Gmail will not display your logo, and display in other clients depends on each provider’s own requirements. - Click Check DNS in the BIMI section. Mailnaptic reports BIMI record detected once the record is published.
Which Clients Support BIMI?
Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Apple Mail support BIMI, as do some other mailbox providers. Support and requirements are set by each provider and can change, so check their current documentation. Mailnaptic does not guarantee that your logo will be displayed by any particular client.
Note: BIMI is optional. It adds brand visibility in supporting inboxes and requires strict DMARC enforcement, but it does not change how your email is filtered or delivered.
