Checking Blacklist Status
Monitor whether your sending domain or IPs are on any blacklists.
Checking Blacklist Status
Email blacklists (also called blocklists or DNSBLs) are databases of IP addresses and domains known to send spam. If your sending infrastructure appears on a blacklist, your emails may be blocked or filtered to spam.
Checking in Mailnaptic
- Go to Domains → Sending domains and expand your domain.
- Scroll to the Blacklist Check (DNSBL) section.
- Click Run check. The result shows the listing, or the message “Not listed on any checked blacklists,” and when the check was last run.
What Is Checked
Mailnaptic checks your sending domain against the Spamhaus Domain Block List (DBL). Mailnaptic’s background domain monitor also re-checks verified domains about every six hours and records any new listings, but it does not send you a notification. Run the check yourself if you notice delivery problems.
What to Do If You Are Listed
- Identify the cause — Common reasons include high complaint rates, sending to spam traps, or compromised infrastructure.
- Fix the issue — Clean your contact list, remove unengaged subscribers, and review your sending practices.
- Request delisting — Most blacklists have a removal request form. Some delist automatically after the issue is resolved.
- Monitor — After delisting, keep a close watch on your complaint and bounce rates (see Sending health on the Dashboard) to prevent re-listing.
