Audit Logs
Audit logs provide a detailed, tamper-evident record of significant actions taken within your Mailnaptic organization. They help you track who did what and when — essential for security investigations, compliance documentation, and operational transparency.
What Gets Logged
Mailnaptic records the following types of events in the audit log:
- Authentication: Successful and failed login attempts, token refreshes, and password changes.
- Contact management: Contact creation, updates, imports, hard deletes, and DSAR exports.
- Campaign actions: Campaign creation, scheduling, sending, pausing, and cancellation.
- Automation changes: Automation creation, activation, deactivation, and modification.
- Organization settings: Changes to org settings, domain verification, API key creation and revocation.
- Member management: Team member invitations, role changes, and removals.
- Compliance actions: DPA acceptance, data exports, and hard deletes.
- Webhook configuration: Endpoint creation, modification, and deletion.
Viewing Audit Logs
Navigate to Organization → Audit Logs to access the log viewer. The interface displays events in reverse chronological order (newest first) with the following information for each entry:
- Timestamp: The exact date and time of the action, displayed in your organization's timezone.
- Actor: The team member who performed the action (name and email), or "System" for automated actions.
- Action: A human-readable description of what happened (e.g., "Created campaign 'Spring Sale'").
- IP address: The IP address from which the action was performed.
- Resource: The type and identifier of the affected resource (contact, campaign, automation, etc.).
Filtering and Searching
Use the filter controls to narrow down the audit log:
- Date range: View events from a specific time period.
- Actor: Filter by a specific team member to review their actions.
- Action type: Show only specific categories of events (e.g., only authentication events or only contact management).
- Resource: Search for events affecting a specific contact, campaign, or other resource.
Exporting Audit Logs
Click Export to download the filtered audit log as a CSV file. This is useful for sharing with auditors, storing in external compliance management systems, or performing detailed analysis in a spreadsheet.
Retention
Audit log entries are retained for 12 months by default. For organizations with regulatory requirements for longer retention, contact Mailnaptic support to discuss extended retention options. We recommend exporting and archiving audit logs regularly as part of your compliance workflow.
Immutability
Audit log entries cannot be modified or deleted through the UI or API. This immutability ensures the integrity of the record and makes the audit log reliable evidence for compliance reviews and security investigations.
